makes one 9-inch pie
Prepare the pie crust pastry using a 9-inch pie pan.
Heat the oven to 425 degrees F. In a large bowl combine all the ingredients except the butter. Mix them lightly together and spoon into the pastry lined pie pan. Place the butter on the top center of the apple mixture. Cover with the remaining pastry and press together to seal. Use a fork to flute the crust rim and slice off any excess pastry from the overhanging top crust. Prick the top of the crust several times with the tines of a fork to vent. (It is a good idea to place the pie tin on a foil covered cookie sheet to catch any possible spills.)
Bake at 425 degrees F for about 45 minutes until crust is nicely browned.
